"SUCCEEDS BRILLIANTLY… IT'S FUNNY AND IT SHOWS MURRAY'S LOVE OF GOLF": FIRST EDITION OF CINDERELLA STORY, SIGNED BY BILL MURRAY

MURRAY, Bill with PEPER, George. Cinderella Story. My Life in Golf. New York: Doubleday, (1999). Octavo, original half green and white paper boards, original dust jacket.

First edition, first printing, of actor Bill Murray's one-of-a-kind chronicle of his "life in golf," boldly signed on the title page by him, a fine copy.

"Growing up, Bill Murray and his five brothers (Ed, Brian, John, Joel and Andy) worked as caddies at Indian Hill Country Club in Winnetka, Ill. They gained more from the experience than crumpled cash. Ed won a Chick Evans scholarship to Northwestern University. Brian Doyle-Murray drew on his caddying for Caddyshack, of which he was a writer. John had a cameo in the film, while Bill starred as the deranged groundskeeper Carl Spackler, forever injecting his goofball, anarchic spirit into a game traditionally associated with corporate strivers and conservative Rotarians. Andy, now a chef, was, like his brothers, inducted into the Caddie Hall of Fame" (New York Times). Bill Murray brings that love of the game, his family and friends, to Cinderella Story, My Life in Golf, where he "plays the funny, daffy guy with all the verve he gives to that role in his movies. If he's had a staid moment in his golfing life, it isn't told here" (Washington Post). The book "succeeds brilliantly… it's funny and it shows Murray's love of golf" (Los Angeles Times). Cinderella Story is also wonderfully illustrated with images that that capture Murray's "crooked caddy's grin that tells you he knows just how far over par you'll shoot—and how much you'll tip—before you even tee it up" (Esquire). Co-authored with George Peper.

Only faint rubbing to dust jacket. A fine signed copy.
