"IT IS A JOY TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE SHARING AND FINDING CHRIST IN THE PLACE OF DEEPEST NEED": SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL FOR GOD, SIGNED BY MOTHER TERESA, ACCOMPANIED BY A DONATION RECEIPT AND TYPED LETTER FROM THE MISSIONARIES OF CHARITY, ALSO SIGNED BY MOTHER TERESA

(MOTHER TERESA) MUGGERIDGE, Malcolm. Something Beautiful for God. WITH: Typed letter signed. [London]: Fontana, (1972). Octavo, original pictorial paper wrappers. Housed in a custom clamshell box.

Early softcover edition of this definitive Catholic biography of Mother Theresa, with photographic illustrations of Mother Teresa working with the poor in India, signed on the author's summary by Mother Teresa, accompanied by a donation receipt and typed "thank you" letter from the Missionaries of Charity to a British donor, also inscribed by Mother Teresa: "God bless you M Teresa MC."

Something Beautiful for God continues to be considered one of the finest religious biographies of Mother Teresa. Written by a skeptic who experiences a spiritual transformation after witnessing Mother Teresa's work with the Sisters of Charity, Something Beautiful for God combines the intimate story of the author's conversion to Catholicism with a biography of Mother Teresa, focusing on her work with the poor and its far-reaching impact. The typed signed letter, on Missionaries of Charity airmail-weight stationery, addressed to a Mrs. Evelyn Hinge of Bristol, England, and accompanied by a receipt for a 5 pound donation, reads: "March 17, 1976. Dear Mrs. Hinge, Thank you for your donation and serve of love to the poor. Our official receipt is attached. Thank you also for your service of love to the poor. It is a joy to know that you are sharing and finding Christ in the place of deepest need. It is in suffering that the Lord seems to draw from us the best and most childlike response possible. I count it a constant source of strength to be serving with you in the Body of Christ. With every good wish and prayer. [inscribed] God bless you M Teresa MC." The first edition of Something Beautiful for God was published in 1971. Bookseller ticket.
