TWO ORIGINAL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS BY VOLKER HEINZE OF FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHERS ROBERT FRANK AND WILLIAM EGGLESTON,SIGNED BY HEINZE

HEINZE, Volker. “William Eggleston, Berlin 1985.” WITH: “Robert Frank, New York City 1987” Berlin and New York: 1985, 1987. Two original color contact prints from negative, each measuring 6-1/2 by 9 inches. Housed in original black and blue cloth dos-a-dos portfolio, entire piece measures 11 by 12-1/2 inches. $2500.

Signed limited printing of these two candid images: William Eggleston dozing at a restaurant and Robert Frank pointing a squirt-gun, number 21 of only 30 copies, signed by Heinze on the versos.

Volker Heinze has managed to capture William Eggleston in one of his docile moments— catching a cat-nap at a restaurant, and Robert Frank in one of his more violent moments— armed with the intent to squirt. William Eggleston’s Guide (1976) is one of the “milestones in the history of color photography” (Roth, 234). Robert Frank’s Les Amèricains (1958) drew praise from Jack Kerouac, who dubbed Frank “one of the tragic poets of the world.”

Fine condition. Rare.
