"MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR": FIRST EDITION OF THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY, EACH VOLUME INSCRIBED OR SIGNED BY SUZANNE COLLINS

COLLINS, Suzanne. The Hunger Games. WITH: Catching Fire. WITH: Mockingjay. New York: Scholastic, (2008-10). Together, three volumes. Octavo, original black, red, and blue paper boards, original dust jackets.

First edition of the three novels in Collins’ acclaimed Hunger Games Trilogy, with Catching Fire signed on the half title by the author with a stamp of a quill, Mockingjay stamped on the half title at a signing (due to the author’s hand injury) and additionally inscribed, "For Daniel, May the odds be EVER in your favor! Love, Suzanne Collins," and The Hunger Games signed on the half title and with a stamp of a leafy branch.

"At its best the trilogy channels the political passion of 1984, the memorable violence of A Clockwork Orange, the imaginative ambience of The Chronicles of Narnia and the detailed inventiveness of Harry Potter" (New York Times Book Review). The Hunger Games was made into a movie of the same title starring Jennifer Lawrence in 2012; she reprised the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in 2013 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part I (2014) and Part II (2015). Both Catching Fire and The Hunger Games feature inkstamps used by Collins during signings. In addition to being inscribed, Mockinjay features a custom stamp that was used by Collins on the 2010 book tour. All copies "signed" during that tour feature the same stamp. "Because of an injury to her wrist, Ms. Collins will stamp books with a Mockingjay stamp specially designed for this 2010 tour rather than signing. In the interest of time, Ms. Collins will only be able to stamp one book per person, and will be unable to personalize books" (Publishers Weekly, citing press material); the copy in this collection is especially desirable for having been inscribed by Collins in addition to being stamped.
