LE BACCARA, WITH 10 SUPERB LITHOGRAPHS FINISHED IN WATERCOLOR BY ARTIST JEAN AUSCHER
AUSCHER, Jean. Le Baccara. Paris: by the artist, circa 1925. Large folio (14-1/2 by 17 inches), original paper boards; Preface and 10 lithographs laid in loose, as issued.
A wonderful portfolio of 10 lithographs finished in watercolor by the the artist.
Auscher’s caricatures humorously evoke the decadent Paris of the 1920s, with predatory older men, naive ingenues, and the greedy winners and penniless losers surrounding the game of baccarat in a casino. Preface by Jules Romains. Lithographs measure 9 by 11 inches.
Plates fine, a bit of soiling to mounts, mild wear to portfolio. A striking production in excellent condition.
