Signed limited first edition of Rackham’s rendition of these classic tales, number 1196 of 1450 copies signed by Rackham, with 13 mounted color plates and 53 in-text line cuts, many full-page. This unique copy with a lovely and large original pen-and-ink drawing by Rackham of the tortoise and the hare on the half title, also signed by him. Beautifully bound with green morocco border inlays; pictorial gilt and multi-colored morocco onlays to front cover.

Rackham illustrates such classic morality tales as "The Hare and the Tortoise," "The Fox and the Grapes," "The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse," "The Fir-tree and the Bramble" and "The Shipwrecked Man and the Sea."
