WITH: Photographic print (13 by 16 inches) initialed on plate affixed below image, loose as issued. $1750 First trade edition, second printing, accompanied by splendid exhibition-size photographic print approved and initialed by Adams on affixed label below image, beautifully displaying his “Winter Sunrise, Sierra Nevada, from Lone Pine, California, 1944”—one of “the greatest landscapes of all time”—a fine folio production with 115 extended-range photolithographs. Ansel Adams made monumental contributions as a photographer… an undisputed master” (Warren, Encyclopedia of 20th Century Photography, 9). Initially issued in 1974 in a trade edition (without laidin print) and a limited edition: this second printing of the first trade edition containing “the original films from the 1974 printing.” Without scarce slipcase. Fine. Taos Pueblo, Signed By Adams 103ADAMS, Ansel and AUSTIN, Mary. Taos Pueblo. Facsimile edition. Boston, 1977. Folio, original half tan calf, slipcase. $3200 Signed limited edition, one of 950 copies signed by Adams, a fine facsimile of the very rare original 1930 edition, with 12 finely screened duotones by Ansel Adams and woodcut motifs by Valenti Angelo. “The twelve photos in Taos Pueblo… include several formal portraits reminiscent of Edward Curtis and neatly circumscribed, almost intimate landscapes… The best of them are architectural studies that draw upon what Austin calls, ‘the deep-rooted, grownfrom-the-soil look of Pueblo buildings’ to explore a proto-modernist softened geometry that reconciles nature and the built environment” (Roth, 58). This limited edition is a faithful reproduction of that rare landmark. See Open Book,88-89. Fine.
