Scarce first edition of T.H. White’s first book, a collection of verse that was featured by the Book Society.

“Walter De la Mare had been asked to write a preface to this book, which was to be chosen by Hugh Walpole as the April poetry recommendation of the Book Society. Overloaded with work, De la Mare suggested sending the poems to T.S. Eliot or Gould Fletcher” (Gallix). In the end, Loved Helen was published without a preface. Gallix C1.

Book fine. Original dust jacket with small chip near spine head, minor tape repair to verso of front panel, exceptionally good and quite nice. A lovely copy in the scarce original dust jacket.
