First edition of a handsome folio production paying to Kollwitz’s art, containing 30 striking halftones of her sculptures from photographs by Max Jacoby, including 13 large exhibition-size plates, loose as issued, with booklet, in original folding photographic portfolio, text in German..

With the death of Kãthe Kollwitz in 1945, the world "lost one of its great graphic artists and humanity one of its most valiant champions… Integrity marks all her work. As a champion of humanity she was greater still. She is one of the timeless" (New York Times). This impressive portfolio contains 30 halftones, including 13 exhibition-size plates, of Kollwitz's sculptures from before WWI through the early 1940s, including: "Mutter mit Zwillingen" (Mother with Twin Children), "Pietà," "Der Vater," "Die Mutter" and "Der Abschied (Zum Tode von Karl Kollwitz)" (Farewell (On the Death of Karl Kollwitz). Containing 12 large halftones with small folding captions, and two four-page leaves: one with 15 halftones, one with three halftones (one full page). Each printed on heavy laminated stock, from photographs by Max Jacoby. With original four-page booklet, two publisher's cards. Loose as issued. Text in German.
