Six-volume collection of Burnet’s works, uniformly bound by Zaehnsdorf, one volume (Rights of Princes) containing Burnet’s book- plate.

A Scottish divine and scholar, Burnet was a Protestant who was very close to William and Mary, and was appointed Bishop of Salisbury in 1689, shortly after the Glorious Revolution placed William and Mary on the English throne. Works included are: A Vindication of the Authority, Constitution, and Laws of the Church of Scotland (1673, 1st ed.); Vindication of the Ordination of the Church of England (1677, 1st ed.); History of the Rights of Princes (1682); Four Discourses… to the Clergy of the Diocese of Sarum (1694, 1st ed.); A Full Examination… Relating to Church Authority (1718); and Discourse of the Pastoral Care (1767).

A handsome collection in good condition, with some wear and scuffing to spines, interiors fine.
