Henrik Saxgren

A RARE ASSOCIATION COPY INSCRIBED BY DANISH PHOTOGRAPHER SAXGREN TO PHOTOJOURNALIST PETER TURNLEY

SAXGREN, Henrik. Krig og kærlighed—om indvandringen i Norden [War and Love. About Immigration in Nordic Countries]. (Denmark): Gyldendal, (2006). Large square quarto, original photographic paper boards. $650.

First edition of Saxgren’s handsome photobook of over 130 full-color photogravure plates, many double-page, a rare association copy inscribed on the half title in the year of publication to photojournalist Peter Turnley, “CPH. Feb 2006, For Peter, With Friendship, [sketch of a heart] Henrick.”

Danish photographer Henrik Saxgren spent four years documenting the lives of immigrants in Northern Europe and Scandinavia for this impressive photobook, published to accompany an exhibit of the same name opening at the Hasselblad Center in Göteborg in January 2006, and continuing the same year to the Finnish Museum of Photographer in Helsinki. Text in Danish. As issued without dust jacket. Inscribed by Saxgren to award-winning photojournalist Peter Turnley, whose work is regularly featured in Newsweek and Harper’s.

Images exceptionally fine, tiny tear to gutter of front free endpaper. An about-fine association copy, scarce inscribed.
