First trade edition of this retrospective tribute to Cornell Capa, with 27 finely screened photographic plates of his finest work, including images of the Kennedy family and Marilyn Monroe.

Like his brother Robert, Cornell Capa “has become a legendary figure in American photography,” continuing a tradition of using “cameras as instruments of social change” (McDarrah, 77). Capa was the signal founder of New York’s International Center of Photography, which grew from a 1976 exhibit he organized “as a memorial to Robert Capa, Werner Bischof and David ‘Chim’ Seymour, three key members from Magnum Photo’s early days” (Parr & Badger II:235-6). This impressive collection includes some of “Capa’s most memorable images. In one students at the school of the Bolshoi Ballet line up at the barre.” Another, revealing “his eye for the compelling details,” movingly records the funeral of Bill ‘Bojangles’ Robinson” (New York Times).
