Award-winning photographer James Nachtwey, “is one of the world’s most widely published and abundantly honored photographers. He has received the Robert Capa Gold Medal an unprecedented five times” and is a contract photographer for Time (Salon). “A legendary barometer for other photojournalists” (Village Voice), Nachtwey belongs to a “tradition that stretches from Robert Capa to Don McCullin and beyond, confronting warfare and its aftermath up close” (L.A. Weekly). On its publication in 1989, Deeds of War, Nachtwey’s first photobook, earned immediate praise as “one of the best of its kind to come along in quite a while (New York Times). Included are 75 color photographic plates, many double-page, of Nachtwey’s work throughout the 1980s, in the Mideast, Northern Ireland, Korea, Central America, Africa and the Philippines. Introduction by Robert Stone. Published by Thames and Hudson the same year in New York and London, no priority established. See Parr & Badger II:254.

Images quite clean and fresh; bright price-clipped dust jacket. A fine copy.
