Saint-Exupery Vous Parle

Antoine Saint-exupery

RARE RECORDING OF SAINT-EXUPERY AND FIVE ACTORS READING FROM HIS WORK

SAINT-EXUPERY, Antoine de. Antoine de Saint-Exupery Vous Parle. [Paris]: Festival, circa 1955. Audio record, original photographic sleeve. $450.

Recording from the “Leur Oeuvre et Leur Voix” series of readings by popular French writers.

Saint-Exupery reads the preface to Terre des Hommes [Wind, Sand and Stars] and "Adieu à Mermoz," memorializing pilot Jean Mermoz, the first pilot to cross the South Atlantic in one flight. Noted French actors François Périer and Gérard Philipe read portions of Terre des Hommes and Vol de Nuit [Night Flight]. A section of Pilote de Guerre [Flight to Arras] is dramatized by actors Jean Marchat, Jacques Mauclair and Marc Cassot. An introduction to Saint-Exupery's work is made by Didier Daurat at the beginning of the record; Daurat was the former pilot and Aeropostale administrator upon whom Saint-Exupery modeled the character of Riviere in Vol de Nuit, which Saint-Exupery dedicated to Daurat. In French.

Near-fine condition.
