"Faber Birren was a leading authority on the effects of color on humans as well as a dedicated collector of texts on color from a variety of viewpoints and time periods… Over a period of 54 years, Birren was retained as a color consultant by companies such as Dupont, Walt Disney and General Electric, as well as by the United States Army, Coast Guard and Navy… He was a prolific author, publishing 25 books and scores of articles, primarily on the use and effects of color in the workplace" (Yale University Library). This volume explores the psychological effects of color and their implications for art, design, decoration, science and more. Recipient Dr. Forrest L. Dimmick was a professor of psychology at Hobart College (Geneva, New York) for two decades and later headed the Vision Bureau at the U.S. Navy Research Laboratory in New London, Connecticut. He was an early member of the Color Marketing Group, whose most prestigious award now bears his name.
