First edition, piano-vocal score, inscribed on the title page, “To Miss Emma Howson with kind regards of The Author. J.W. Glover, Dublin, April 1877.”

Irishman John William Glover composed this opera based on Goldsmith’s poem of the same name. The recipient Emma Howson sang for years with D’Oyly Carte, originating the role of Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore.

Interior fine, moderate wear to fragile paper wrappers, mostly at spine. A very nice inscribed copy.
