Roller skates are traditionally credited to Belgian inventor Joseph Merlin in the 1760s, but the first four-wheel skate was designed in 1863 by James Plimpton of Medford, Massachusetts. This is an early manual of roller-skating techniques. Skating brochure circa 1950 laid in.
