This edition features a scholarly introduction by Samuel Coleridge’s son, Hartley. “Hartley Coleridge’s only literary effort of any consequence was [this] edition of Massinger and Ford, [originally] published in 1840, accompanied by valuable biographies of the dramatists, but the projected criticisms were never written” (DNB). Coleridge died before the criticisms were begun. With frontispiece portrait engraved by H. Robinson and engraved title page from the 1839 Moxon edition. Bookplate.
