Nineteenth-century photographic albumen print by Francis Bedford, depicting Conway Castle in Wales.

Francis Bedford was appointed in 1862 by Queen Victoria to tour the Middle East with the Prince of Wales, resulting in a series of photographic images which has secured his reputation as an important early photographer. Compositionally, his British landscape scenes share much with the pre-Raphaelites.
