“THE GREATEST EGG-HUNT OF ALL TIMES!”
SEUSS, Dr. Scrambled Eggs Super! New York: Random House, (1953). Quarto, original pictorial paper boards, pictorial endpapers, original pictorial dust jacket. $1500.
First edition of Seuss’ tenth book.
Seuss' bright, whimsical pictures and bouncing, tongue-twisting text follow a young boy on his epic quest in search of the ingredients for "Scrambled Eggs Super-Dee-Dooper-dee-Booper, Special de luxe à-la-Peter T. Hooper." Devoted Seuss enthusiasts will note that this book contains his first reference to a Grinch (though not, presumably, the one who would steal Christmas four years later). Younger & Hirsch 68.
Interior generally bright and clean, minor edge-wear to boards. Dust jacket with moderate edge-wear and closed tears to panels, small hole to front panel, small chip to spine head. An attractive, extremely good copy.
