LaCroix's magnificent survey explores the arts of the period, from architecture to weaponry, and from painting and sculpture to the craft of medieval bookbinding. Many of the 19 richly-hued chromolithographs by Kellerhoven are facsimiles of illuminations in the finest medieval manuscripts. Translated from the French by James Dafforne.
