First edition of Abba Eban's ten Castle Lectures delivered at Yale University in 1993 and 1994 on "the challenges of diplomacy in the post-Cold War era," inscribed by the renowned diplomat in Hebrew on the front free endpaper.

Raised and educated in England, Abba Eban emigrated to Palestine after World War II. He played a key role in negotiations with the British government to grant Israel independent statehood. Among his many government positions, Eban served as Israel's first delegate to the United Nations, ambassador to the United States, and Foreign Minister. The Castle Lectures formed a part of Yale's Program in Ethics, Politics, and Economics.
