Yosemite and the Range of Light

Ansel Adams

"ARGUABLY THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER": ANSEL ADAMS' YOSEMITE AND THE RANGE OF LIGHT, 1979

ADAMS, Ansel. Yosemite and the Range of Light. Boston: New York Graphic Society, 1979. Oblong folio, original red and blue cloth, original photographic dust jacket. $450.

First trade edition, first printing of Adams' stellar photobook, containing 116 striking black-and-white photogravures, most full-page, in original dust jacket, a beautiful copy.

Adams' Yosemite and the Range of Light "set new publishing standards. George Waters directed the printing at Pacific Lithograph in San Francisco, with Ansel standing over the presses. All plates were made using laser-scanned negatives and duotone printing: each image sang on the page" (Alinder, 313-16). "During his lifetime Adams was arguably the world's most famous photographer, with reproductions of his works hanging everywhere from college dorm rooms to museum galleries the world over" (McDarrah, 3). "First Printing" on copyright page. Preceded the same year by a signed limited edition of 250 copies.

A fine copy.
