This illuminated leaf is from a French Book of Hours, circa 1400-1500. The recto comprises 14 lines of gothic text in black and red and includes the Gloria Patri. There is a three-line initial in gold on a filigree purple, blue, and white ground with leaves, flowers, and sprays extending from it; four less elaborate one-line gold initials; and two similar line-extenders. The verso appears to be similar.
Disbinding and stitching marks along right edge. About-fine condition.
