Let's Get a Good Shot

Bobby Knight

RARE FIRST EDITION OF ONE OF BOBBY KNIGHT'S PRIVATELY PRINTED BOOKLETS OF BASKETBALL TECHNIQUES: LET'S GET A GOOD SHOT, 1969

KNIGHT, Bobby. Let's Get a Good Shot. Walden, New York: Robert M. Knight, 1969. Slim quarto, staple-bound as issued, original pictorial beige paper wrappers; pp. 29. $1450.

First edition of Bobby Knight's second book, focusing on—and extensively diagraming—the best ways to get a good shot at the basket, in original pictorial wrappers.

"Like any other coach, Knight was fired up for his debut [as head coach of Army], but no one got fired up quite the way he did. He not only preached patience and ball movement, he gave his players a pamphlet called Let's Get a Good Shot. On the cover was a drawing of a player standing on a ladder, holding the ball with two hands and carefully placing it into the basket" (Delsohn & Heisler, 46). While Knight's first game was a loss against Princeton, then nearly unbeatable, the strategies and techniques he put forward in Let's Get a Good Shot have stood the test of time and continue to be used even today.

Interior fine, small closed tear to front wrapper, very faint toning to extremities. A handsome copy.
