First edition, with 60 illustrations (35 in color) of Chagall paintings, signed by him on the first page of text. From the collection of Joseph Liverant, a fellow Russian Jewish emigré and friend of Chagall who was one of the benefactors of the Museum and an honorary member.

The catalogue of an exhibition of Chagall paintings from 1967-1977, held at the Pitti Palace in Florence from June 5 to September 30, 1978. From the collection of Joseph Liverant, a fellow Russian Jewish emigré and close friend of Chagall. Liverant and Chagall both fled Europe in World War II, Liverant to Canada and Chagall to the United States. After the war, both acquired residences in Provence, where shared social circles, similar ages, and a mutual love of Yiddish combined to forge a lasting bond of friendship between the two.

Faint evidence of dampstaining to rear cover and last 10 leaves. A near-fine copy.
