Desirable 1798 manuscript document written in a secretarial hand pertaining to Napoleon's Egypt campaign and the resignation of the Commission Du Mobilier National, boldly signed as "Bonaparte" and with a few words in French by Napoleon.

This document pertains to the resignation of the Commission Du Mobilier National in Cairo during Napoleon's invasion of the Egypt. Shortly after dawn on May 19, 1798 a French fleet set sail for Egypt, carrying over 34,000 men plus animals, guns and munitions—led by the rising general Napoleon Buonaparte. The Directory considered it expedient to keep the ambitious general occupied, and while unable to invade England directly, he could certainly disrupt England's overland route to India. Several military blunders and defeats forced the French from Egypt in 1801. Additionally signed by Italian Minister Count Pagliano, and Magallon, French Consul-General of Cairo.
