Good Grief, More Peanuts!

Charles M. Schulz

GOOD GRIEF, MORE PEANUTS!, SIGNED BY CHARLES SCHULZ WITH AN ORIGINAL SKETCH OF SNOOPY

SCHULZ, Charles M. Good Grief, More Peanuts! New York and Toronto: Rinehart & Co., (1956). Oblong octavo, staple-bound as issued, original pictorial paper wrappers. $3500.

First edition of the third collection of comic strips starring Charlie Brown, Snoopy and friends, signed on the half title: "SCHULZ," and with an original sketch of Snoopy running with his ears flying back behind him.

"Peanuts first appeared in October 1950 in eight daily newspapers. The feature was immediately popular and was soon picked up by hundreds of other newspapers throughout the country. By the end of the decade Schulz had become arguably the best-known cartoonist in the United States, and Charlie Brown et al. had become household names; the strip was even responsible, thanks to Linus, for adding the term 'security blanket' to the national lexicon… From the 1950s onward Schulz assembled and published his cartoon strips in book form, beginning with Peanuts in 1952, and followed by More Peanuts (1954) and Good Grief, More Peanuts! (1956)" (ANB). First edition, with publisher's device on copyright page.

Interior generally quite nice, bright wrappers with only slight creasing, faint ring stain to rear wrapper. A lovely near-fine signed copy with original sketch.
