Exceptional large tinted lithograph depicting New York and its harbor circa 1790, beautifully executed by acclaimed lithographer George Hayward.
This particular engraving was intended for Valentine's Manual, an almanac and factbook concentrating on New York City. Valentine, the manual's compiler, often took care to insert important New York-related material in the text. Other copies of this lithograph are held at the Met and the Maritime Museum.
