Ernest Hemingway

“HE FELT HE HAD LEFT EVERYTHING BEHIND”

HEMINGWAY, Ernest. The Nick Adams Stories. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, (1972). Octavo, original blue cloth, original dust jacket. $450.

First edition of 24 stories by Hemingway, including eight published for the first time.

Arranged in a sequence following the life of Nick Adams, Hemingway's recurrent character, this posthumous collection of two dozen tales includes the "Big Two-Hearted River," "The Last Good Country" and "The Killers," which was adapted into two classic films of the same name, first in 1946 and again in 1964. Published from materials provided by Mary Hemingway, eight stories appear for the first time—"all the new materials have been printed in a special 'oblique' type." Hanneman S-A19A.

Cloth with a bit of toning to upper edge only, dust jacket with minuscule rubs to corners, small tape reinforcement on verso. A near-fine copy.
