First edition, No. 35 of the Ariel Poems, inscribed on the last page, "To Sir Michael Sadler from T.S. Eliot."

Faber & Faber's poetical series of 38 booklets, published between 1927-1931, brought together the most renowned poets and artists of the times. Five of Eliot's poems, including Triumphal March, first appeared in this format. With a three-color lithographic frontispiece by E. McKnight Kauffer. Gallup A19a. The recipient of this copy, Sir Michael Sadler, was an English historian who served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds from 1911-23, when he became Master of University College, Oxford. He was the father of noted publisher, novelist, book collector and bibliographer Michael Sadleir. With a slip of paper laid in inscribed by Sadler, "Sarah Grace Harvey from MES. Oxford June 11, 1939," and Harvey's bookplate on the reverse of the front wrapper.

Interior fine, a few mild spots to fragile paper wrappers. A nearly fine copy.
