Written in the middle of the Long Depression—a long-lasting contraction sparked by the Panic of 1873—this primer on currency and price focuses on the interactions of labor and capital. Denning touches on practical economics as well as more scholarly analysis, drawing in sources such as Jefferson and Aristotle. Date blacked out on front free endpaper. Frontispiece unobtrusively outlined in marker.

A few spots of minor staining and toning to preliminaries, front inner paper hinge expertly repaired, faint soiling and some wear to original cloth, small hole to rear joint. A very good inscribed copy.
