"When the battle waged hottest, Sheridan was at his best—cool, exact, self-possessed, the dashing and brilliant leader of men willing to follow him anywhere" (ANB). Nicholson, 773. Dornbusch II:2400. Nevins II:88. Owner signatures. Tiny bookseller ticket.

Interiors very nearly fine, Volume II inner paper hinges repaired, light wear mainly to extremities. A near-fine copy.
