(BEN GURION, David) ZMORA, Ohad, BARKAI, Mordechai, et al., editors. Days of David Ben Gurion. New York: Grossman, 1967. Quarto, original gray cloth, original printed acetate dust jacket. $1750.

This richly illustrated biography of Ben-Gurion spans the years between his adolescent political activism to becoming Israel's first prime minister. "In the spring of 1948, despite great pressure from the U.S. government and the doubts of many of his colleagues, Ben-Gurion insisted upon the establishment of the Jewish state immediately upon the termination of the British Mandate. On May 14, 1948, he proclaimed the rebirth of the independent Jewish nation" (Encyclopaedia Judaica IV:506-514). Published the same year as a first trade edition.

Book with inner paper hinges split but holding strong and slightest toning to spine. Scarce dust jacket with mild toning, shallow chipping mainly to base of spine, and old tape repair to reopened tear. A near-fine signed copy.
