Woodrow Wilson

ONE OF ONLY 385 COPIES SIGNED BY EDITOR EUGENE V. BREWSTER

(WILSON, Woodrow) BREWSTER, Eugene V., editor. In Memoriam. The Passing of Woodrow Wilson. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1924. Thin octaco, original half black cloth, paper cover label, uncut. $650.

Signed limited first edition of this tribute to the late President Wilson, a compilation of excerpts from periodicals eulogizing his life, number 240 of only 385 copies signed for the publisher by its editor, Eugene V. Brewster.

This memorial book comprises a collection of excerpts from newspapers and magazines marking the death of Woodrow Wilson. Although repudiated by a conservative shift in the electorate following the First World War, "Wilson remained faithful to the tenets of Wilsonianism—a progressive and peaceful world order with democracy and capitalism, national self-determination and collective security—which would shape much of American history throughout the 20th century" (ANB). Paralyzed by a stroke and suffering numerous medical maladies in its aftermath, Wilson died just a few short years after leaving office.

Interior fine, only slight rubbing and soiling to binding. A near-fine signed copy.
