First edition, later issue, of Adams' fourth novel about a 1970s love affair threatened by the supernatural, inscribed on the title page: "Yours sincerely Richard Adams."

Later issue, with the character's name as "Karin Forster" not "Käthe Guetner" (as in the suppressed first issue), due to a libel suit threatened by the real Käthe Guetner.
