Trinity

Leon Uris

FIRST EDITION OF TRINITY, INSCRIBED BY LEON URIS

URIS, Leon. Trinity. Garden City: Doubleday, 1976. Octavo, original dark green cloth, cartographic endpapers, original dust jacket. $1100.

First trade edition of Uris' fictional treatment of "the troubles," wonderfully inscribed and signed by him with his nickname, "For S— from one great Irish… person to another—Love Lee."

Uris' novel spans Irish history from the days of mid-19th century famine to the Easter Rising of 1916 to argue the thesis, "In Ireland, there is no future, only the past happening over and over." "The story has a kind of relentless power, based on the real tragedy of Ireland, and Uris' achievement is that he has neither cheapened nor trivialized that tragedy" (New York Times). "First Edition" stated on copyright page. Preceded only by a privately printed limited edition.

Book fine; lightest edge-wear to colorful about-fine dust jacket.
