Eleanor Roosevelt

ROOSEVELT, Eleanor. India and the Awakening East. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1953. Octavo, original half green cloth, cartographic endpapers, supplied dust jacket. $1500.

Later printing of the First Lady’s account of her travels through the Middle East and India, signed by her on the half title.

The beloved First Lady, social reformer and diplomat, writes of her travels to India, Pakistan, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Israel, all in her service as an "ambassador of democracy." Later printing, without code "F-C" on copyright page indicating publication in June 1953. Slightly oversized dust jacket supplied from another copy, presumably a separate printing. Illustrated with 32 pages of black-and-white photographs.

Book about-fine, price-clipped supplied dust jacket with some light wear to extremities, bright and clean. An extremely good signed copy.
