The Soft Machine was Burroughs' third book, immediately following and continuing the experimentation begun in The Naked Lunch (1959). It is the first book in the Nova Trilogy, followed by The Ticket That Exploded (1962) and Nova Express (1964). Second issue, with the "New Price" stamp on rear cover. Without original dust jacket.
