First edition of Leslie's history of Jamaica, with large folding map of the island and folding map of the West Indies.

Leslie describes in detail his voyage to Jamaica, and provides a description of the island and its people. His history includes an abstract of Jamaican law, a description of Jamaica's trade and commerce, the first Assiento slave contract, and sections on earthquakes, the French invasion, Blackbeard the pirate, the Mosqueto Indians, slave rebellions, and the characters of past and present Governors of the island. Interior clean with only a few marginal stains, folding maps fine, minor scuffs to contemporary calf covers. A near-fine copy.
