First trade edition, second printing, accompanied by splendid exhibition-size photographic print approved and initialed by Adams on affixed label below image, beautifully displaying his “Winter Sunrise, Sierra Nevada, from Lone Pine, California, 1944"—one of "the greatest landscapes of all time"—a fine folio production with 115 extended-range photolithographs.

This splendid folio volume contains a laid-in exhibition-size photographic print, authorized and initialed by Adams on a label affixed below the image of his "Winter Sunrise, Sierra Nevada, from Lone Pine, California, 1944"—one of "the greatest landscapes of all time… one of his most famous photographs" (Alinder, 239-47). Adams "elevated the act of photography to a religious experience" (Icons of Photography, 96). With introduction by Wallace Stegner. Initially issued in 1974 in a trade edition (without laid-in print) and a limited edition: this second printing of the first trade edition containing "the original films from the 1974 printing." With rarely found laid-in print as issued of "Winter Sunrise" (image also displayed on dust jacket and as frontispiece); without scarce slipcase.
