(HARRISON, George) TAYLOR, Derek. Fifty Years Adrift. Surrey, England: Genesis, (1984). Large octavo, original pictorial three-quarter brown calf gilt, raised bands, burgundy morocco spine label, photographic endpapers, all edges gilt, original cardboard slipcase. $3200.

Signed limited first (and only) edition of Derek Taylor's vibrant autobiography, number 1049 of 2000 copies signed by Taylor and filled with color illustrations, photographs, and facsimiles of memorabilia from Taylor's early career as a journalist and later experiences as publicist for the Beatles, signed in pencil by endpaper designer and ex-Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band member Larry Smith, and edited, annotated, and with a foreword by George Harrison signed by him, in beautiful publisher's binding.

Fifty Years Adrift "is an impressively weighty tome, beautifully bound in calf leather with gilt-edge pages, and it includes many previously unpublished pictures, full-color reproductions of concert tickets, stage passes, letters, postcards and the like, and more than 500 pages of text. Also included are some 15,000 words of margin notes by George Harrison, who expands on certain tales from the band's point of view and is said to have personally edited the manuscript. The inevitable question concerning such an artifact is simply this: Is it worth the price?… [F]or the dedicated Beatles fan with ample discretionary income, the answer is a resounding yes" (New York Times). "Probably the best Beatles-related volume ever" (The Beatles Book Monthly).
