First edition of this collection of full-color elephant folio facsimiles of five critical papyri, containing “the funereal compositions upon which [Egyptians] depended for the means of attaining everlasting life.”

These faithful facsimiles of Egyptian vignettes, hymns, chapters, and descriptive rubrics, together with their transcriptions in hieroglyphic type, comprise a source of extraordinary importance for the study of the Book of the Dead. With 35 facsimiles—20 in full color (17 of these double-page) and 15 black-and-white half-tones. Published as a supplement to the Papyrus of Ani, which appeared first in facsimile in 1890.
