Earth Shine

Anne Morrow Lindbergh

EARTH SHINE, FIRST EDITION, BEAUTIFULLY INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY ANNE MORROW LINDBERGH

LINDBERGH, Anne Morrow. Earth Shine. New York: Harcourt, Brace & World, (1969). Octavo, original cloth, original dust jacket. $850.

First edition, beautifully inscribed at length and signed by Anne Morrow Lindbergh on the title page in the year of publication: "Anne Morrow Lindbergh / For Ginny and John who see 'Earth Shine' in a raccoon's whisker and the tip of a pussy willow (and the shimmer on a dragonfly's wing) with my gratitude, Anne. October 15th 1969 Round Meadows."

This book combines two previously published essays: the first, written for Life Magazine, concerns the first flight of astronauts into the orbit of the moon; the second concerns Anne Morrow Lindbergh's experiences on a safari in East Africa. "The essay she wrote for Life Magazine is here published in revised and expanded form, with an earlier essay recording her impressions when she first saw the teeming wild life in Africa. Both essays celebrate the beauty of our planet." Illustrated with six color and eight black-and-white photographic plates.

Book fine, dust jacket with just a bit of edge-wear and some crinkling to rear panel. A near-fine inscribed copy.
