Six Crises

Richard Nixon

INSCRIBED BY PRESIDENT NIXON

NIXON, Richard. Six Crises. New York: Doubleday, 1962. Octavo, original gray cloth, original dust jacket. $500.

Later edition, inscribed by the 37th president, “Best wishes to Irv Robbins from Dick Nixon."

The case against Alger Hiss, the anti-American riots in South America, and the 1960 Presidential campaign are among the experiences included in this memoir, told from the perspective of one of the most controversial figures of the 20th century. Includes a footnote that first appeared in the 1962 Book Club Edition, which was published in a different binding, added at Nixon's request and not present in the first edition, related to an incident during the 1960 presidential campaign and a briefing that Senator John F. Kennedy was given by the CIA. The footnote, located on page 354, reads: "However, after the publication of the first edition of this book, the White House issued a statement on March 20, 1962, denying that the two and one-fourth hours briefing covered any operations relating to Cuba." Without "First Edition" on copyright page.

Interior fine, tiny bit of soiling to cloth, lightest edge-wear to scarce price-clipped dust jacket. An about-fine inscribed copy.
