O'NEILL, Eugene. Strange Interlude. New York: Boni and Liveright, 1928. Large octavo, original full parchment with bevelled edges, black morocco spine label, uncut, original plain dust jacket, original slipcase. $500.

Winner of the 1928 Pulitzer Prize, Strange Interlude, "a play in nine acts, almost twice the length of an ordinary stage piece, is a work of extraordinary power which, with the copious use of asides and soliloquies, seeks to expose the motives of human character. In this play and in others that followed, O'Neill seemed to be clarifying his ideas on the soul of man and the destiny of the human race" (Hartnoll, 612). Issued one month after the trade edition. Text handsomely printed in blue and black. Atkinson A30-II-I. Sanborn & Clark 66.

Book fine, scarce original plain dust jacket chipped and torn, expert restoration to original slipcase. Quite scarce with jacket and slipcase.
