Hawkes Pocket Scores edition, inscribed on the title page, "For Phillip / after an indescribably eruditable / INTERVIEW / from / A.C. / Lincoln' geburtstag [ie: February 12] / 1978."

Copland "wrote three symphonies, the early Organ Symphony, the Short Symphony, and the Third. The Third is by far the best known of the three, and its Shostakovich Fifth ending brings audiences to their feet" (Steinberg, The Symphony, 130). The recipient of this copy was Phillip Ramey, a composer and writer who was also one of Copland's closest friends.

Toning to original wrappers. Near-fine condition.
