The most authoritative work on Medieval to Georgian antique English furniture, featuring well over a thousand photographs with explanatory commentary. “Without Macquoid’s pioneering work, furniture studies would never have reached their present state” (Jerome Phillips). Macquoid’s collaborator Ralph Edwards was a distinguished furniture expert in his own right and later became the Curator of Woodwork at London’s prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum, where he helped to build a massive collection of nearly 14,000 pieces.
