RAILROAD BOND SIGNED BY J.P. MORGAN

MORGAN, J. P. Railroad bond certificate signed. New York, 1886. One sheet, 9 by 13 inches, matted and framed with a portrait, entire piece measures 18 by 20 inches.

A 100 year, 4 percent mortgage bond certificate for $1,000 issued by the New Jersey Junction Railroad Company and guaranteed by the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Company, signed by financier and railroad magnate J.P. Morgan and countersigned by his partner Harris C. Fahnestock.

The New Jersey Junction Railroad ran from Weehawken to Jersey City along the Hudson River. In his career Morgan helped reorganize numerous railroads including giants such as The Northern Pacific, The Erie, The Southern, and The Philadelphia and Reading. With an engraved river view including sailboats, paddle wheel boat and railroad. Bond number 2035; all but one of the 200 coupons remain attached.
