KING’S VIEWS OF THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE, 1897, WITH 1,061 ILLUSTRATIONS, IN ORIGINAL CLOTH GILT

KING, Moses. King's Views of the New York Stock Exchange. New York: Moses King (Chasmar-Winchell), 1897. Folio (10 by 15 inches), original olive cloth gilt, with original yellow wrappers bound in.

First edition of this comprehensive and wonderfully illustrated folio volume on Wall Street and its leaders, with 968 portraits of prominent figures and 93 views of Manhattan landmarks.

This large folio volume is profusely illustrated with hundreds of portraits of prominent business leaders and views of New York landmarks in a scarce contemporary “history and description with articles on financial topics.” The numbers of portraits and views have been overstamped on the front yellow wrapper to indicate “more than 900” rather than 400 portraits and “92” rather than 65 views. Scarce notice to recipients tipped in, announcing that the book’s 1,061 pictures are completely indexed and that “the book itself will never be reprinted.”

Text block and inner hinges expertly restored.. Interior generally clean; minor ink stain to foot of spine and lower edge of rear cover. An extremely good copy in the original cloth.
